What You Need to Know about Electroplated Diamond Drill Bits
The purpose of drill bit electroplated:
The matrix metals are strengthened by means of refinement of grain size, compactness of structure and alloying of various forms of lattice distortion caused by infiltration of heterogeneous metal atoms into matrix metals. All of these will increase the resistance of dislocation movement of coating or matrix metal grains and lead to the improvement of deformation resistance of metal materials, i.e. strength.
The making method of Electroplated Diamond Drill Bits:
The matrix of the bit is coated on the bit body layer by layer in the electroplating bath. While electroplating covers the electrolytic metal, the diamond particles are sprayed and the diamond is wrapped in the electroplated metal layer. The working layer of the bit is formed by repeated sand filling and plating for a long time. When electroplating, the steel body of the drill bit is also shaped by plastic mould, so that the coating increases along the axis of the drill bit, and the inner and outer diameters of the matrix are guaranteed. The diamond used in electroplated diamond bits is mostly artificial diamond. The matrix of the bit is mainly nickel, which has the same applicable conditions as the common impregnated diamond bits.
The advantages of Electroplated Diamond Drill Bits:
The whole bit making process at low temperature (below 40 C) has no thermal damage to diamond and keeps the original strength of diamond, which is conducive to giving full play to the characteristics of synthetic diamond; (2) By adjusting the composition of plating solution and controlling the manufacturing process, changing the composition of deposited metal layer (matrix) and adjusting the working performance of the bit are conducive to improving the adaptability and comprehensiveness of the bit
